Stellar Pitching Powers Bears In Sweep Of Rams

Pikeville, Ky. - The UPIKE softball team won both games during today's double header against the Bluefield Rams.

Game 1 - UPIKE 2, Bluefield 0

Both teams were scoreless until the Bears broke the tie in the fourth. Karsen Pritchard crossed home plate on an error and the Bears took a 1-0 lead. The Bears got an insurance run two innings later. Jamie Pollard got it started with a single into center field. Mary Oxford came in to pinch run and immediately got into scoring position by stealing second. Oxford crossed the plate one batter later when Karsen Pritchard singled to center field. Pitcher Carolyn Alincic sat the Rams down in order in the top of the seventh and UPIKE took game one 2-0.
