Bowling Green, Ky. – The Bears wrapped up their 2023 season with a 7-0 loss to Georgetown College in the first round of the 2023 MSC Softball Tournament Wednesday.
After the Bears were retired in order in the top of the first, Georgetown wasted no time getting ahead in this one. The Tigers plated two in the bottom of the first and three more in the second. While UPIKE continued to struggle at the plate, the Tigers poured it on. GC hit a solo home run in the fourth then tacked on another in the sixth. The Tigers closed it out in the top of the seventh by retiring the Bears in order and won 7-0.
Zoë Ingram and Sophie Kluesner led UPIKE with three defensive assists each and Haleigh Jones had six put-outs. Sam Case was second in put-outs with four while Ingram and center fielder Karsen Prichard recorded three each.
With today's result, the Bears finish their season with a record of 15-24 (4-19 MSC). This was the Bears' final appearance in the Mid-South Conference tournament as they will be joining the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) when they return to the diamond next Spring.
