KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – A goal in the 53
rd minute tied the game and that's now it finished as the University of Pikeville women's soccer team battled Johnson University to a 2-2 match on Saturday afternoon.

The Bears trailed twice in the contest and battled back to even the count on both occasions but wasn't ever able to take the lead.

Johnson (0-1-2 overall, 0-1-1 in the AAC) took its first lead in the 15
th minute when Anna Jo Mullins found the net on an offering from Shelby Reed to lead 1-0.

UPike (2-3-2, 1-0-2) evened the count in the 29
th minute on a goal from senior
Brekel Tibbs off a pass from junior
Alix Herter. For Tibbs, it was her second score of the season; Herter was credited with her first assist.

That was the score until early in the second half when the Royals took the lead again. This time it was a goal by Sarah Roberts, with Kaitlyn Pope getting the assist. The goal came in the 47
th minute and pushed the lead to 2-1.

Six minutes later, the Bears tied the game again on an unassisted score by
Charlene Lofqvist. It was the freshman's first goal of her career.

Neither team was able to find the net again.

The Bears had many chances to score, recording 18 shots on goal in the contest. Lofqvist led the team with five shots on goal.

Millie Conod had seven saves in the contest.

The Bears will be back in action on Saturday afternoon, hosting Montreat (N.C.) College. That match will begin at 5 p.m. at the Bob Amos Complex.
