Pikeville, Ky. - Women's soccer dropped a 3-1 decision to Columbia College (S.C.) Wednesday afternoon at Bob Amos.
The Koalas struck early in this one when Brooke Piscitello buried a rebound in the 7' after teammate Madison Stewart hit the crossbar. Jordan Myers gave CC a 2-0 lead in the 11' after a turnover at midfield. Despite falling behind early, the Bears applied plenty of pressure. UPIKE had four first half shots, including two from Lillie Kluesner.
The Bears continued applying the pressure in the second half and it paid off. Ruby D'Arcy took a shot from 22 yards out that was deflected and ended up right at the feet of Kylie Gollihue, who cut the Koalas' lead in half in the 57'. Columbia College wasted no time getting their two-goal lead back, drawing a penalty inside the 18. Jordan Myers found twine for the second time after cashing in on the PK in the 58'. Neither team scored again in this one and the Bears fell 3-1.
UPIKE's records dips to 2-5-2 following today's loss. The Bears will return to action Saturday for a noon match at Bluefield.
