Aguilar Nets Two Goals In Win Over IU-East

Centerville, Ind. - A pair of goals from junior forward Anthony Aguilar lifted the Bears to a 4-3 victory over the IU-East Red Wolves Monday afternoon.

UPIKE's offense went on the attack early and often in this one, netting their first goal in the 11'. Anthony Aguilar recorded the cap and Charlie Williams got the assist. The Red Wolves leveled the score after an unfortunate UPIKE bounce led to an own goal. UPIKE took the lead back in the 38' when Ben Beltermann found the back of the net. Seconds later, Alex Ward put the Bears up 3-1. The Bears outshot the Red Wolves 9-6 and outscored them 3-1 in the first 45.

With the momentum on their side and the offense rolling, UPIKE added to their lead in the 51' after Anthony Aguilar netted his second cap of the afternoon. One minute later, IU-East's Tristan Thomas got one back for the Red Wolves. The next 20 minutes was a back-and-forth battle that ended in Bawi Tang scoring to put IU-East within one.

After conceding a pair of goals, the Bears defense locked down the Red Wolves. IU-East did not have another shot on goal for the remainer of the game and UPIKE took a 4-3. Senior keeper Gabriel Torres recorded his first career win in net for the Bears while Anthony Aguilar had his second career multi-goal game.

The Bears are now 1-2 following Monday's win. Coach Shaun Schetka's will hit the pitch Saturday afternoon for their first AAC game against Bryan College.
