LAURINBURG, N.C. – All five starters reached double figures as the University of Pikeville knocked off St. Andrews University 91-73 on Saturday afternoon.
 
Each of the openers had between 12 and 16 points as the Bears won for the seventh time in eight games to start the season.
 
Just as importantly, however, was the shooting. UPike hit 50.8 percent overall and 42.9 percent from the arc. Finally, it finished 17-of-21 from the line, good for 81.0 percent.
 
The Knights, meanwhile, made only 37.1 percent of their shots from the field and 33.3 percent from outside. They did, however, go 12-for-14 from the line (85.7 percent).
 
Graduate student 
Cade Looney recorded his second double-double of the season, scoring 16 times and pulling down 12 rebounds. Junior 
Keynan Cutlip joined him with 16, adding five rebounds and five assists.
 
Juniors 
Bradley Bunch and 
LA Walker had 14 points each. Bunch had eight rebounds and three assists while Walker pulled down seven.
 
Junior guard 
Keian Worrix tossed in12.
 
St. Andrews was led by Mateu Escamilla, who led all scorers with 18 points while pulling down six rebounds. Christopher Coleman followed with 16 points and five rebounds.
 
Caleb Brown tossed in 12 and Jaylen McDuffie finished with 11.
 
UPike will return to the court on Tuesday evening, playing at Union Commonwealth. The second game of a doubleheader, it is set for a 7:30 p.m. opening tip.
