Bears take two from Union

BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - University of Pikeville baseball picked up a pair of 4-2 wins over Union Saturday.

Game 1: UPIKE 4, Union 2

The Bulldogs drew first blood after a one-out double to right. UPIKE tied the game at 1-1 one frame later, starting with Noah Brooks drawing a walk then moving into scoring position after Francis Subero was hit by a pitch. With two on and two on base, Tyler Freas came through with an RBI double to left to tie the score.

The Bears took the lead in the next inning, beginning with a one-out walk by Noah Helton. Helton scored two batters later after an error and Tyler Maynard made his way to second. Noah Brooks made the Bulldogs pay for the mistake with a two-run home run to put the Bears up 4-1.
