PIKEVILLE, Ky. – A pair of first-half goals stood up until the end as the University of Pikeville and Johnson (Tenn.) University played to a 1-1 draw on Saturday in women's soccer.

The tie kept the Bears unbeaten through three league games, moving to 2-0-1, while Johnson now stands 1-1-1 in the AAC. The Bears are 3-1-1 overall; the Royals are 2-1-2.

Johnson took the lead with a goal from sophomore Amy Johnson in the 20
th minute. The unassisted goal was her first of the season.

UPike needed only four minutes to answer, picking up a goal by freshman
Sara Ritter. It was her second goal of the season and came off a pass from sophomore
Ruby D'Arcy, her first this year.

From there the scoring was done but the action was far from it. UPike peppered shots at Johnson sophomore goalkeeper Kaitlyn Pope, but she turned them away.

UPike had 13 shots on net in the contest, despite scoring only once. Sophomore
Charlene Lofqvist led the way with three, followed by two each from junior
Sadie Bourgeois and Ritter.

Meanwhile, Johnson had only one additional shot on goal which was handled by senior netkeeper
Millie Conod. It was by junior Brenna Benke.

UPike will return to the pitch on Saturday when it travels to Montreat (N.C.) College. That match will commence at 3 p.m.
