Bears remain unbeaten in AAC with win at Montreat

MONTREAT, N.C. – The University of Pikeville remained unbeaten in AAC play with a hard-fought 1-0 win over homestanding Montreat (N.C.) College on Saturday afternoon.

UPike now stands 4-1-1 on the season, but more importantly, 3-0-1 in the conference. Meanwhile, the Cavaliers fell to 3-3-1 overall, 2-1-1 against league competition.

The Bears scored what would prove to be the only goal of the contest at the 35:52 mark of the first half when freshman Rebekah Christopher found the net thanks to passes from sophomores Charlene Lofqvist and Anna Dudas.

Senior Millie Conod made it stand up, turning away all five Cavalier shots on net to seal the win.

The Bears managed only three shots on goal in the win. Sadie Bourgeois and Lofqvist had the other two.

The Cavs had six shots on goal in the contest. Two came from Natalie Hall. The others were attempted by Leigh Harpel, Olivia Ostwalt, Sam Aalbue and Rozsa Williford.

UPike is back in action on Wednesday when it travels to Columbia (S.C.) College. It's set to begin at 3:30 p.m.
