Bears fall on Labor Day

PIKEVILLE, Ky. – A single goal late in the first half by Hoi Lian was all IU-East needed in a 1-0 win over the University of Pikeville in men's soccer on Labor Day.
 
Lian, a junior forward from Indianapolis, broke free off a pass from senior Tristian Thomas for what proved to be the only goal of the day. The game was an 11 a.m. matinee.
 
The Bears were scoreless despite having seven shots on goal to only four for the Pack.
 
Sophomore Juan Farcus, junioe Daron Bauman and freshman Jakob Rus all had two shots on goal. Freshman Oliver Fausel had one.
 
Aside from the goal, freshman Marco Cruz had two shots on goal, while sophomore Mohammed Hussien came off the bench for one.
 
Freshman Joao Miclos spent all 90 minutes in goal and got the decision.
 
IU-East senior Peter Lamprou got the win in net for the Pack, recording saves on all four shots on goal.
 
UPike (1-3) will begin league play on Saturday when it travels to Dayton, Tenn., to meet Bryan College.
