PIKEVILLE, Ky. – Graduate student Cade Looney set season-high marks with 28 points and 15 rebounds to lead the University of Pikeville to an 81-53 win over Montreat (N.C.) College on Wednesday night.
 
Looney, the Grundy, Va., native, scored 28 thanks to an efficient 13 of 15 from the field, including hitting both of his three-point tries.
 
The win improved the Bears to 17-4 on the season, 10-3 in the AAC. They entered Wednesday's game ½ game out of first place in the league standings.
 
The win also came on a memorable night for junior Bradley Bunch, who hit a three-point basket with 2:45 left in the first half to score his 1,000^th career point.
 
Bunch, a product of Big Stone Gap, Va., finished with 20 points and eight rebounds.
 
The Bears took a 34-28 lead to the break, and then outscored the Cavs 47-25 to cruise to the win.
 
Looney and Bunch were joined in double digits by junior LA Walker, who had 11 points to go with four rebounds and three assists, and junior Keynan Cutlip, who fired in 10 points and grabbed nine rebounds.
 
Meanwhile, junior guard Keian Worrix finished with eight points, six assists, two rebounds and two steals.
 
Montreat (13-6 overall, 7-3 in the AAC) was led by senior Jarden Maze, who scored 16 points and grabbed eight rebounds. He was the only Cavalier in double figures in the scoring column.
 
Sophomore R.J. Manginello and freshman AJ Baskerville had eight points apiece.
 
UPike will be back in action Monday night, visiting Truett McConnell (Ga.) University for a makeup game. The game is set for a 7:30 p.m. opening tip.
