WBB win streak ends in loss to Lindsey Wilson

 
CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The University of Pikeville saw its five-game winning streak come to an end in an 83-53 loss to Lindsey Wilson University on Friday afternoon.
 
The game is the first of a two-day trip to Campbellsville, where the Bears will play the homestanding Lady Tigers on Saturday to wrap up the trip.
 
Lindsey Wilson (8-2) jumped out to a 6-0 lead early before the Bears tied it, scoring all six points from the free throw line. The Blue Raiders scored the next five points and never trailed again.
 
UPike (5-2) had only one player reach double figures, as freshman Savannah Jarvis came off the bench to score 10 points and block six shots. That was the most blocked shots by a Bear since Rachel Bush swatted eight on Dec. 4, 2024 in an 80-51 win over Kentucky Christian University.
 
The Bears, playing their second consecutive game without AAC Player of the Year Allie Stone, shot only 32 percent from the field and was 3 of 9 from the arc. They did hit 18 of 22 from the line for 81.8 percent.
 
Freshman Anika Stehbens had nine points and tied for the team high with three assists, while freshman Halle Collins, who scored seven points, led the team with eight rebounds.
 
Nine different Bears saw at least 17 minutes of playing time on Friday.
 
Lindsey Wilson was led by sophomore Saniyah Shelton, who had 21 points, seven rebounds, five assists and four steals. Sophomore Meadow Tisdale followed with 16 points and a game-high 10 rebounds.
 
Junior Taylor Guess and sophomore Emma Barnett had 12 points each for the Raiders.
 
UPike's game at Campbellsville on Saturday is scheduled to start at 3 p.m.
