PIKEVILLE, Ky. - University of Pikeville women's tennis fell 4-3 at home to Union Commonwealth University Tuesday.  

Union's Magdalena Skachova and Anastasia Menghini opened doubles with a 7-6 with over Yazmin Barrios and Azul Barrios. Natalia Geraldine Salinas and Lilia Jerry leveled the doubles score with a 6-4 win over Aspasia Katsuda and Anna Nevada Loendahl Henriksen. The Bulldogs secured the doubles team point after Laia Garriga Oms and Anastasiia Iakovlieva won 6-3 over Belen Cavallero and Gabriela Guacanes.  

Skachova opened singles play with a 6-3, 7-6 win over Jerry, but Cavallero got the Bears back in the match with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Menghini. Yazmin Barrios tied the match score with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Iakovlieva. The Bulldogs retook the match lead after Garriga won 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 over Salinas. The Bulldogs put the match away after Katsuda won 6-2, 6-1 over Genesis Medina. Azul Barrios won her match 6-2, 6-1 but UCU won the match 4-3.  

The Bears are 8-2 (4-1 AAC) following today's setback against UCU. Next up for the Bears is a trip to Athens, Tenn., for an AAC match against the Tennessee Wesleyan Bulldogs.
