Women's bowling eliminated from NAIA Championship

STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. - UPIKE women's bowling was eliminated from the 2025 NAIA Women's Bowling National Championship after a 4-1 loss to No. 1 SCAD-Savannah.  

Game 1: UPIKE 224, SCAD-Savannah 204 

Game one started with a strike from Brianna Rogers, then a nine spare from Haley Grabowski. Vanessa Fuzie recorded a nine in the third. Katarina Hagler and Kristina Catoe recorded back-to-back strikes to close out the front half.  

Rogers and Grabowski recorded nine spares, then Fuzie struck in the eighth. Hagler came through in the ninth with a strike and then Catoe struck three times to give the Bears a 1-0 series lead.  

Game 2: SCAD-Savannah 209, UPIKE 162 

Rogers struck in the first and Grabowski scored a nine. Fuzie nine spared, Hagler struck, and Catoe knocked down eight.  

The back half went nine spare by Rogers, strike by Grabowski, nine spare by Fuzie, strike by Hagler, then a nine by Catoe. The Bees took game two to level the series 1-1. 

Game 3: SCAD-Savannah 224, UPIKE 198 

Game three started with a strike by Rogers and a strike by Grabowski. Fuzie and Hagler made it four in a row and Catoe dropped nine in the fifth.  

The back five went nine spare by Rogers, nine by Grabowski, nine spare by Fuzie, nine spare by Hagler, Catoe struck, then Victoria Hines took the fill shot. SCAD would take game three and a 2-1 series lead.  

Game 4: SCAD-Savannah 238, UPIKE 162 

Rogers eight spared in the first. Hines entered the lineup and dropped ten in the second. Fuzie nine spared, Hagler struck, and then Catoe closed out the front five with a strike.  

The back half began with a nine spare by Rogers then a nine by Hines. Fuzie dropped nine, Hagler shot an eight, and then Erica Warne entered in the lineup in the tenth and shot a nine. The Bees struck nine times in game four and took a 3-1 series lead. 

Game 5: SCAD-Savannah 234, UPIKE 227 

Game five started with a scorebook X from Rogers and a nine spare from Hines. Warne nine shot a nine, then Hagler and Catoe both struck.  

Rogers opened the back five with a strike, then Hines made it four in a row with a strike in the seventh. Warne struck in the eighth, Hagler nine spared in the ninth, and Catoe struck and nine spared in the tenth. The Bees won the game and the series 4-1.  

With the loss, the Bears were eliminated from the 2025 NAIA Women's Bowling National Championship. The Bears will take to the lanes again in Las Vegas, Nevada, for the 2025 USBC ITC on April 14th-19th.
