STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. - University of Pikeville women's bowling fell 4-1 to No. 6 Concordia (Mich.) in round four of the 2025 NAIA Women's Bowling National Championship.
Game 1: Concordia 183, UPIKE 138
Brianna Rogers opened the series with a nine and then Vanessa Fuzie nine spared. Katarina Hagler dropped five in the third and Kelsey Cummings dropped nine in the fourth. Kristina Catoe closed out the front half with a nine spare.
Rogers opened the back half of game one with a nine. Fuzie bounced back with a strike in the seventh and Hagler nine spared in the eighth. The match ended with a nine spare from Cummings and a nine spare from Catoe. The Bears left four frames open and dropped game one 183-138.
Game 2: Concordia 222, UPIKE 181
Rogers bounced back with a strike to start game two. Fuzie dropped ten in the second and nine spared in the third. Cummings and Catoe wrapped up the first half with a nine and an eight spare, respectively.
The Bears left the sixth open and Fuzie filled the seventh with a nine spare. Hagler struck in the eighth, Cummings nine spared and Catoe closed it out with a strike and a five spare. The Bears dropped game two and trail 2-0 in the series.
Game 3: Concordia 203, UPIKE 179
After a five on her first shot, Rogers got some momentum with a five spare. Fuzie kept the momentum going with a strike in the second and Hagler nine spared. Cummings knocked down nine and Catoe nine spared in the fifth.
Rogers struck in the sixth, Fuzie nine spared in the seventh, Hagler nine spared in the eighth, Cummings knocked down nine in the ninth, and Catoe struck twice. Concordia led 3-0 after three games.
Game 4: UPIKE 232, Concordia 227
Rogers and Fuzie got game four started with back-to-back strikes. Hagler and Cummings nine spared and Catoe struck in the fifth.
Rogers and Fuzie made it two for two after striking in the sixth and seventh, respectively. Hagler made it four strikes in a row after dropping ten in the eighth. Cummings got a nine in the ninth and Catoe struck three times in the tenth to keep the Bears alive.
Game 5: Concordia 210, UPIKE 167
Rogers struck in frame one for the second consecutive game. Erica Warne entered the lineup and eight spared. Fuzie slid down to the three spot and shot an eight. Hagler struck in the fourth and Catoe eight spared in the fifth.
The back five went nine spare by Rogers, eight spare by Warne, strike by Fuzie, nine by Hagler, and a strike and an eight by Catoe. The Cardinals would take game five and take the series 4-1.
Despite the loss, the Bears are still in the tournament. UPIKE will take on No. 1 SCAD-Savannah in round five of consolation.
