PIKEVILLE, Ky. – Freshman
Rylee Carter threw a no-hitter in the second game to help the Bears sweep St. Andrews (N.C.) University on Thursday afternoon.

The Bears won two shortened games, winning the opener 10-2 in six innings and the nightcap 11-0 in five.

Carter struck out five and blanked the Knights in the second game.

UPike will now head to Myrtle Beach for a series of games, beginning on Sunday morning when they play West Virginia State and Lees McRae (N.C.) College.

Bears 10, Knights 2, 6 innings: Three players had two hits and two drove in a pair as the Bears picked up the win in the opener.

UPike took a 5-2 lead to the bottom of the sixth before it posted five runs to invoke the mercy rule.

Crum and Quick had two hits and drove in two runs each as the Bears posted nine safeties in the game. Case doubled, scored twice and drove one in; Carter doubled and scored twice; and McClellan, Muncy and Jones all had one hit.
