PIKEVILLE, Ky. – The University of Pikeville used a 10-run third inning to knock of Alice Lloyd College 14-9 on Tuesday afternoon at Johnnie LeMaster Field.

The win improved the Bears to 20-18 on the season and ran their win streak to seven.

The Eagles now stand 17-13.
Â
UPike scored single runs in the first two innings, while Alice Lloyd scored once in the second and two in the third to take a brief 3-2 lead before the Bears came calling in the third.

They sent 15 batters to the plate in the frame, beginning with two flyouts before anyone reached base. Left fielder
Noah Brooks doubled down the line in left and scored on a single by
Austin Gurney to tie the score.

Second baseman
Cam Revolt then delivered Gurney with a triple and he scored on a single by
Garren Gledhill to make the lead 5-3. Shortstop
Francis Subero singled to center and when the throw went to third, he moved into scoring position.

Both scored on a single to center by first baseman
Marques Richards. After a pitching change, catcher
Tanner Gerosa singled and third baseman
Mason Melton singled to deliver Richard to make the score 8-3.

Riley Paulino reached on an error that scored courtesy runner
Gavin Fraser. A hit by Brooks scored Melton and Paulino, pushing the edge to 11-3, and Brooks later scored on a wild pitch to make it 12-3.

The inning ended after the Bears scored 10 times on 10 hits.

Alice Lloyd scored two runs in each of the sixth, seventh and eighth, while the bears plated two more in the seventh when junior
Cole Fowler hit his first home run as a Bear.

Gurney was 3-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI, pacing a 14-hit attack for the Bears. Gerosa, Brooks and Subero all had multi-hit games, with Gerosa and Brooks having a double. Brooks scored two and drove in two while Subero scored and drove one in.

Melton and Revolt had a hit, scored two times and drove in one each. Richards had a hit, drove in two and scored, while Gledhill had a hit, a run scored and an RBI.

Fraser scored two runs.

Starting pitcher
Jonah Adkins went six innings to get the win and improve to 2-1. He was followed for an inning each by
Max Vandenbroek,
Caleb Morrison and Maquire Wakeland.

UPike will be back in action on Friday when it travels to Cleveland, Ga., to begin a three-game series with Truett McConnell. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.
