BLUEFIELD, Va. – Two members of the University of Pikeville women's soccer team recoded their first career hat tricks as the Bears stayed undefeated with an 8-1 win over AAC opponent Bluefield University on Wednesday afternoon.

Junior cornerback
Jayla Boyd scored all three of hers in the first half and sophomore forward
Sara Ritter joined her in the second half.

Boyd now has goals in five consecutive contests.

The Bears also got a goal and an assist from junior wing
Charlene Lofqvist and the first two assists in the career of junior
Ava Smith. Â

UPike (5-0-2, 3-0-1 in the AAC) opened the match with the most prolific scoring half of the season, posting five goals, all in the first 19:04. They finished with the highest scoring outing of the season.

Boyd, the league's leading scorer, got the Bears on the board early, needing only 5:44 to do so on an unassisted goal. Only 1:24 later, Boyd found Ritter for the score to make it 2-0.

Ritter scored again less than four minutes later off a pass from Lofqvist to make the score 3-0.

Boyd and Lofqvist entered the game tied for the league lead in assists.

Exactly two minutes later, at the 11:04 mark, Boyd found the back of the net again. This time, she did so off a pass from Smith to make it 4-0.

The final first half goal gave Boyd her first career hat trick, scoring unassisted to run the score to 5-0.

Meanwhile, all was quiet for UPike junior goalkeeper
Allyson Gonzalez, who didn't face a shot on goal the entire half.

The first goal of the second half came in the 69th minute when Ram Ashlyn Newman scored an unassisted goal.

UPike responded three minutes later when Lofqvist scored on a penalty kick. Ritter completed her hat trick less than a minute later when Smith recorded her second assist of the day.

In the 77
th minute, the Bears scored off another penalty kick. This time it was sophomore
Rebekah Christopher doing the honors.

The Bears will be back in action a week from today when they host Union Commonwealth University. The contest is slated for Bob Amos Park at 5 p.m.
