JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – The No. 17 University of Pikeville women's golf team finished second this week in the annual East Tennessee Collegiate, held at the Johnson City Country Club.

The Bears finished the par 72, 5872-yard tournament with a two-day score of 20-over par, finishing eight strokes behind the University of the Cumberlands, the nation's No. 12 team.

They finished 14 strokes in front of No. 20 Milligan (Tenn.) University, the host of the event.

The remainder of the field was AAC competition. Spartanburg Methodist (S.C.) College was fourth, followed by Montreat (N.C.) and Bryan (Tenn.).

Two Bears made the all-tournament team in the 34-player event. Junior
Tayla Howroyd shot two-over to finish in a second-place tie with a score of 146. Senior
Renee Crooks finished fourth with a 36-hole score of three-over par.

Carly Crooks followed with a total of 152 to place ninth, while graduate student
Lauren Holmes recorded another Top 10 finish with a score of 153.

Keira Howroyd was 13
th with a score of 155. Freshman
Tiffanie Tran was 17
th, shooting 162.

UPike will be back on the course Sept. 29-30 when it travels to Palm Harbor, Fla., to play in the Invite at Innisbrook.
