PIKEVILLE, Ky. - University of Pikeville wrestling hosted Truett McConnell University and were defeated 42-4 at the UPike Gym Friday night.
Chase Price highlighted the match with a win over TMU's Tyler Crow. Price, a native of Offutt, Ky., send the UPike Gym into a frenzy after winning 16-7 and scoring four team points for the home team.
UPike's Cedric Stewart opened the match against Truett McConnell's Tyler Ramos in the 125-weight class match. Ramos scored four points for TMU after defeating Stewart 21-9. In the 133 match, Ethan Croom got off to a hot start against TMU's Draike McDonald, but McDonald battled back in the second and third periods and won 18-8.
UPike freshman Christian Nesby took on Caleb Benton in the 141, but Benton won the match after pinning Nesby at 2:41. Aden Burdulis was also defeated via pin, falling to Tyler Garrett at 1:54 in the 149-weight class.
TMU won the 157 match after Chase Bond won 14-1 over Hayden Canady. George Lemaster was defeated by his TMU counterpart, Nate Napolitano, via fall at 2:01.
In the 184 weight class match, Spencer Fields of TMU won via fall at 2:18 over UPike's Randall West. The night ended with Phillip Terrell taking on UPike's Lincoln Griffith in the heavyweight bout. Griffith was defeated via tech fall at 1:47.
Coach Mallo's squad are back at home next Friday at 6:00 p.m. for a match against the WVU-Tech Golden Bears at the UPike Gym.
