MILLIGAN, Tenn. – The University of Pikeville used a 23-12 advantage in the fourth quarter to end Milligan University's dream of a perfect league season with a 72-64 win on Wednesday night.

UPike now stands 10-10 on the season, 9-3 in the AAC.

The Buffs entered the final period with a 52-49 lead, but sophomore
Jaaliyah Warren tied it with a three-point shot with 8:55 left in the game.

The teams were tied again at 54 and 56 before freshman
Anika Stehbens scored on a layup with 6:19 left to put the Bears on top 58-56.

They never trailed again.

Kenzie Campbell hit a three to pull Milligan within one (60-59) with 3:58 left, but layins by freshmen
Kyra McAlarnis and
Sophie Adkins pushed the Bears back out to a five-point lead with 2:45 left.

The Bears, who shot 51.7 percent for the game, got 22 points from Stehbens. She also had seven rebounds, three assists and two steals.

Adkins followed with 18 points, eight rebounds and three assists while Warren had 12 points, four rebounds and two assists.

Milligan (13-7, 12-1) shot only 36.6 percent overall and 21.7 percent on 23 three-point attempts. Semaj Clark had 14 points to go with six rebounds, eight assists, three steals and a blocked shot.

Campbell followed with 11 points and five rebounds.

UPike is, weather permitting, scheduled to travel to South Carolina on Saturday to play Columbia International University. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.
