CLEVELAND, Ga. – Truett McConnell University put four players in double figures on Saturday afternoon and knocked off the University of Pikeville 67-58.

For Truett McConnell, it was its first win over UPike since the Bears joined the league prior to the 2023-24 season. UPike fell to 7-9 on the season and 6-2 in the conference.

The difference in the game came in the shooting categories. Truett hit 48 percent from the field and hit 6 for 10 from the arc, while UPike was 38.5 percent overall and 30.4 percent on three-point tries.

Truett outscored UPike 17-6 in the first period before the Bears returned the favor with a 23-10 edge to take a 29-27 lead to the break. But a 24-7 scoring edge in the third quarter was too much to overcome.

Freshman
Sophie Adkins led UPike with 14 points on Saturday, going 5 for 5 from the free throw line and adding four rebounds. Sophomore
Jaaliyah Warren followed with 12, all coming on three-point shots.

Junior
Rachel Bush returned after missing two games with 10 points and a team-best six rebounds.

Truett McConnell had a balanced scoring attack, led by 16 from Ava Queen. Destinee Lovejoy and Madison Aguilera followed with 15 each.

Lovejoy added 10 rebounds and was 5 of 5 from the free throw line. Her rebounding helped TMU to a 29-25 advantage on the glass.

Kayleigh Kelley added 10.

UPike will be back on the floor on Wednesday night, hosting Johnson (Tenn.) University. The game is scheduled for 5:30 at the Appalachian Wireless Arena.
