The University of Pikeville ran its win streak to 14 with a 93-75 win over Johnson (Tenn.) University on Wednesday night at the Appalachian Wireless Arena.

UPike is now 15-2 on the season and remains perfect in the AAC at 9-0. Johnson is now 4-11 overall, 4-4 in the league.

After the Royals scored the first basket of the game, the Bears responded with eight of the next 10 points.
Bradley Bunch scored the first five points, and when
LA Walker nailed a three with 17:57 left, the Bears were on top 8-4.

UPike led 16-14 before scoring six straight points. Bunch had the first four on a three-pointer and a free throw, and Rigdon nailed two free throws to make the lead 22-14 with 12:17 left.

Four minutes later, Cutlip scored and then Worrix hit a three with 8:20 remaining and the lead ballooned to 33-20.

The Royals cut into the lead, outscoring the Bears 11-3 over a 5:16 period. Senior forward Mason Lockhart had nine of them, and they were back within five, 39-34, with one minute left.

Lockhart led all scorers with 30 points.

The only points in the final 60 seconds came on a three-pointer by
Keynan Cutlip to send the teams to the half with UPike on top 42-34.

UPike's lead was 49-38 with 17:07 left when it went on an 11-2 run.
Zion Blevins had eight, including the final six on layups to stretch the advantage to 60-40.

Leading 68-48, another outburst saw the Bears score eight of 10 in only 1:11. This time
Rylee Samons was the key with five points, and a
Jace Copley three with 9:42 left made the lead 76-50.

Bunch and Blevins led the way with 18 points and five rebounds each. Bunch added five assists.

Three other Bears – Walker, Samons and Copley – tossed in 11 each. Walker had five rebounds and two assists.

For the Royals, graduate student Livingston Cross joined Lockhart in double figures with 19 points. He also had nine rebounds and two steals.

UPike will be back in action on Saturday afternoon when it hosts Carolina University in a battle of teams that were in the same pod on the opening weekend of last year's NAIA national tournament.
