Game Recap: Men's Soccer | | Rick Bentley

Reinhardt beats men's soccer

The University of Pikeville men's soccer team suffered a costly defeat on Saturday morning, falling to Reinhardt (Ga.) University.

Reinhardt improved to 7-4-2 on the season and 5-3-2 in the conference. UPike is now 6-7-2 overall, 4-5-1 in the league.

The first half saw only one goal. The Eagles were responsible for it when Cristian Gonzalez netted his seventh of the season. It came in the 16th minute from Nathan Booth.

That would prove to be the only shot on goal in the first half for Reinhardt. UPike had four but none found its way into the net.

A free kick resulted in a Reinhardt goal early in the second half. Nathan Booth scored his third of the season in the 53rd minute to make it 2-0.

Each team finished with five shots on goal. UPike was led by junior forward Jakob Rus with two, while senior forward Mahmaud Shech-Ichya, senior defender Matais Salviat and junior midfielder Martin Larraguibel had one each.

The Bears will return to action on Wednesday when they travel to Montreat (N.C.) College. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.
