WISE, Va. - University of Pikeville women's tennis dropped to 0-2 on the season after a 7-0 road loss to UVa.-Wise Friday afternoon.
Teegan Carpenter and Natalia Geraldine Salins opened the doubles match with a 0-6 loss to UVa. Wise's Kenzy Abdelaal and Melissa Lino. The Cavaliers secured the doubles point after Costanca Azinhaga and Juliana Bastidas won 6-0 over Elizabeth Davis and Teegan Carpenter.
Salinas got the singles matches started with a competitive match against Abdelaal, but Abdelaal outlasted Salinas, winning 6-2, 6-3. The Cavaliers extended their match lead to 3-0 after Andreea Onitoiu defeated Carpenter 6-0, 6-1.
Wise would secure the match after Clark fell to Bastidas 0-6, 0-6. Ayende was also defeated 0-6, 0-6 by Cuncliffe. UVa.-Wise would win the match 7-0.
The Bears will take to the court again next Friday in Elkins, W.Va., for a 1:00 p.m. match against Davis and Elkins.
