The University of Pikeville women's basketball team struggled to put the ball in the hole from the outside on Saturday, and as a result fell to Montreat (N.C.) College 90-86.

UPike will enter the AAC tournament next week seeded fourth. It will learn its opponent after the season ends on Sunday.

The Bears went 2 for 16 from the arc, missing all seven shots in the first half. They lost despite shooting 31 for 41 (75.6 percent) on two point shots.

Montreat (10-16 overall, 8-12 in the AAC) shot 50.7 percent from the field and 36.8 percent from the arc. The Cavaliers were also a solid 13 of 16 from the free throw line.

Anika Stehbens came off the bench to fire in a career high 32 points, shotting 13 of 19 from the field. She also had two of UPike's four steals.

Sophie Adkins was 8 of 11 from the floor to finish with 21 points. She also had sxi rebounds and three assists.

Senior
Jaidy Mejia-Andrade finished with nine points, eight rebounds and three blocked shots. She entered the game leading the league in blocks. She wrapped up the regular season with 57.

Allie Stone had eight points in her final home appearance as a Bear. Stone, who is fourth on the all-time scoring list, will enter next week's tournament with 1,822 points.

Montreat got 30 points from freshman Sarah Williams, who added four rebounds and four assists. Senior Tresalyn Roberts followed with 23 points and a team-high seven rebounds.

Freshman Se'Nai Camper flipped in 14 for the Cavs.

UPike will enter the tournament with a record of 15-13 and finished 14-6 in the AAC.
