PIPPA PASSES, Ky. – A rally in the ninth inning of the nightcap gave the University of Pikeville a sweep in a Sunday afternoon doubleheader at Alice Lloyd.

UPike won 7-3 and 5-3 in extras.

The win improved the Bears to 3-3 on the season and gave them three wins in four weekend games against the Eagles.

UPike will return to the field on Tuesday afternoon when it travels to Milligan (Tenn.) University to resume AAC play. The doubleheader is scheduled for a 1 p.m. first pitch.

Bears 7, Eagles 3: Trailing 3-0 after two innings, UPike rallied for four in the fourth and added three insurance runs in the top of the seventh to pull out the win.

Second baseman
Kaden Dunlap doubled, singled, drove in three and scored two for the Bears, while right fielder
Maddie Horn had three hits and scored a run. First baseman
Chloe Calton had two hits, one a double, and scored a run, while
Addison Johnson had two hits.

Catcher
Dani Crum singled, scored and drove in a run. Left fielder
Harlee Quick singled and had an RBI.
Claudia Maness,
Olivia Metcalfe and
Ashlyn Dixon all had hits.

Chloe Bryant (1-1) pitched the final five innings to get the win. She allowed a hit and struck out one. She came on in relieve of Brianna Johnson, who had three strikeouts through two innings of work.

Bears 5, Eagles 3, 9 innings: Horn delivered a two-run single in the top of the ninth inning to give the Bears an extra-inning win in the nightcap. She delivered Dixon, the ghost runner, and Crum, who had walked.

The hit was Horn's second of the game. Johnson and Quick also had two hits, with one of Quick's a double. Crum singled, doubled and drove in two.

Alexis Emery added a hit.

Sophomore
Rylee Carter pitched the final four innings to even her record at 1-1. She allowed only two hits in relief of Calton, who threw the first four innings.
