The University of Pikeville picked up a sweep of Bluefield (Va.) University on Saturday afternoon, blanking the Rams 8-0 in the opener and winning the finale 9-1.

UPike is now 15-7 on the season, 5-5 in the AAC. The Bears have won four straight, all in the league, and 12 of their last 14 games.

Bluefield fell to 2-24 overall, 1-11 in the league.

The Bears will return to Paul Butcher Field on Monday afternoon when they play Johnson (Tenn.) University. First pitch in the AAC doubleheader is scheduled for 1 p.m.

Brianna Johnson went the distance for the Bears, allowing only three hits and recording three strikeouts.

Bears 9, Rams 1, 6 innings: The Bears jumped out to a 3-0 lead despite leaving the bases loaded in each of the first three innings. Each team scored a run in the fourth before the Bears earned some separation with four in the fifth and then ended it with a run-scoring single in the sixth.

Quick, who drove in the run to end the game, had two hits, one of them a double, drove in three and scored a run. Crum, who scored the winning run, had a double and a triple, scored three times and drove one in.
