OLD HICKORY, Tenn. – The No. 13 University of Pikeville women's tennis team wrapped up regular-season play this week in the Music City Classic at the Hermitage Golf Course.

The Hermitage played 6,085 yards, par 72, and the Bears finished tied for eighth in the 21-team field.

Third-ranked Marion (Ind.) won the tournament with a 54-hole score of five over par 869, finishing 11 strokes ahead of No. 1 Keiser (Fla.).

No. 6 SCAD-Atlanta followed at 34-over to finish third, with No. 9 Indiana Wesleyan at 39-over for fourth place and 10
th-ranked Cumberlands placing fifth at 42-over.

UPike shot 306, 303, 305 for a score of 914, finishing tied with No. 12 Southeastern (Fla.).

The field featured 18 of the nation's Top 50 teams.

The Bears were led by junior
Tayla Howroyd, who finished tied for sixth in the field of 104 golfers with a score of 219, three-over par. She shot 71-72-76 for the 54 holes.

Carly Crooks followed, tied for 34
th with a score of 14 over par 230. Senior
Renee Crooks moved up six spots during the final round to finish tied for 37
th at 15-over par.

Graduate student
Lauren Holmes shot 21-over par, while freshman
Tiffanie Tran was 26-over for the tournament.

UPike will enter postseason play on April 26-29 in the AAC Championship, which will be held at Governors Town Club in Acworth, Ga.
