Two second-half goals by WVU Tech was enough to rally for a 3-1 win over the University of Pikeville on Saturday afternoon at Bob Amos Park.
 
The decision evened the records of both teams at 1-1 and spoiled the home opener for the UPike women's soccer team.
 
Scoring began in the 11^th minute when the Bears got on the scoreboard. Junior Rebekah Christopher found the back of the net for the first time this season off a pass by senior Jayla Boyd.
 
Just before the half, WVU Tech evened the count. Sophomore Sarah Dasilva emerged from a cluster in front of the net to score.
 
The teams went to the half even at 1-1.
 
WVU Tech took the lead for good in the 60^th minute on a goal by sophomore Rocio Gutierrez.
 
In the 89^th minute, the Golden Bears scored an insurance goal by junior Julia Silva.
 
UPike had seven shots on goal on the day. Junior Sara Ritter led the way with three.
 
WVU Tech had six shots on goal, with Silva and Gutierrez recording two each.
 
Freshman Irene Sanchez picked up the win for the Golden Bears, recording six saves on the day.
 
For UPike, senior Allyson Gonsalez had three saves in goal
 
UPike will be back in action on Tuesday when it visits Campbellsville. It kicks off at 4 p.m.
