KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The University of Pikeville improved to 5-0 against AAC competition with a 3-0 win over Johnson University on Saturday morning.

The Bears won by scores of 25-20, 25-14, 25-23.

UPike has now won six consecutive matches and stands 12-3 on the season. The Bears have won their five league matches by a combined score of 15-0.

Johnson is now 6-8 on the season. It was their first loss in the conference after opening with three consecutive wins.

The Bears had 42 kills on the day, led by senior
Allyah Tokelau with 14. Junior
Cassidy Rivas joined her in double digits with 10.

Lanie Hawley finished with seven, while sophomore
JLynn Risner recorded six.

On those 42 kills, senior setter
Chloie Brinton had 34 assists.

UPike had seven service aces, with senior
Lillian Carpenter leading the way with four. Rivas added two.

Two Bears reached double figures in digs, paced by freshman
Baylee Moore with 12. Brinton contributed 11.

The Bears recorded 12 block assists in the win, with junior
Olivia Chapman being in on three of them. Rivas, Tokelau and Risner had two each.

The Bears will wrap up their four-match road trip next Saturday, Sept. 26, when they travel to Columbia (S.C.) College. That match will begin at 11 a.m.
