CORBIN, Ky. – The University of Pikeville's women's golf team played its second tournament of the season last week when it hosted the Orange & Black Collegiate.
 
And for the second time in as many tournaments, Tayla Howroyd has been named AAC golfer of the week.
 
She is a senior from Edenvale, South Africa.
 
Howroyd earned the honor thanks to a three-round total of 214. The tournament was played at Prestonsburg's StoneCrest Golf Course. It was played as a par 72, 5,736-yard tournament.
 
Howroyd played her rounds to scores of 70, 71 and 73 and won the event by three strokes.
 
She won the honor after the opening tournament as well. There, she shot a three-round score of 225 to finish tied for sixth in the Wildcat Fall Invitational, hosted by Indiana Wesleyan University.
 
The tournament was played at the 6,003-yard, par-72 Birck Boilermaker Golf Course in West Lafayette, Ind.
 
This is the fourth time in her career she has been golfer of the week.
 
As a junior, Howroyd was a third-team All-America and helped the Bears to their first ever appearance in the NAIA national tournament.
 
UPike will return to action September 28-29 at the Invite at Innisbrook, hosted by Dalton State College, in Palm Harbor, Fla.
