No. 6 Georgia Gwinnett earned a hard-fought victory on Friday afternoon, beating the University of Pikeville 4-0 at Bob Amos Park.
 
UPike is now 3-3-2 on the season. Georgia Gwinnett improved to 5-2-1.
 
The teams were scoreless for the first 64 minutes, but then the Grizzlies posted two scores in a three-minute span.
 
The first goal came near the end of the 64^th when junior midfielder Gabriel Martins found the ball off the keeper and scored to make it 1-0. It was his second goal of the season.
 
In the 66^th minute, freshman midfielder JJ Grimaldo scored an unassisted goal, his fourth of the season to make the score 2-0.
 
In the 85^th minute, senior midfielder Francisco Osorio scored his second goal of the season. His third came in the 87^th minute on a header.
 
UPike finished with five shots on goal on the day, led by junior forward Elvis Simiyu with two. Senior Mahmaud Shech-Ichya, sophomore Dylan Roberts and freshman Luyanda Atta all added one.
 
Sophomore keeper Alejandro Iglesias recorded five saves on the day.
 
The Bears will play again on Wednesday evening, visiting Union Commonwealth University at 7 p.m.
