BECKLEY, W.Va. – Tuesday night's contest started off strong for the University of Pikeville, but sophomore Gonzalo Sabeh led homestanding WVU Tech to a 6 -1 comeback win.
 
Sabeh, an Argentian, scored the go-ahead goal and had two assists before the night was over. His standout performance gave the Golden Bears their first win of the season after opening with three consecutive ties.
 
It also gave UPike it's first loss after opening 2-0-1.
 
The night started out well for UPike. In the first minute of play, senior forward Dylan Roberts scored off an assist from junior defender Luthando Mdletche to take a 1-0 lead.
 
For Roberts, it was his seventh goal of the early season, moving him into solo possession of the lead in the AAC.
 
From there, however, it was all WVU Tech.
 
Before the half ended, Tech had the tying goal from freshman forward Joost Hermeling, on a pass from Gonzalo Sabeh; the go-ahead score from Sabeh, with the assist going to freshman Kai Cooper, and; an unassisted goal by junior forward Wilfredo Brinceno.
 
Tech led at the break 3-1.
 
Nine minutes into the second half, the Golden Bears added on with an unassisted score from freshman midfielder Gonzalo Colman to go up 4-1.
 
Later, in the 63^rd minute, Sabeh got his second assist of the game when he found freshman Arturo Caballer to push the score to 5-1.
 
In the final minute of play, Brinceno scored the final goal of the night, getting passes from junior Benjamin Niles and freshman Derren Sanchez.
 
UPike had only two shots on goal. In addition to the score by Roberts, senior midfielder Yali Cohen put one on net that was turned away.
 
Despite the tough night, sophomore goalkeeper Alejandro Iglesias recorded seven saves in the contest.
 
UPike will begin AAC play on Saturday when it visits Bryan (Tenn.) College. The Bears and Lions will hook up at 2 p.m. in Dayton, Tenn.
