WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The University of Pikeville women's golf team closed out the Wildcat Fall Invitational with a seventh-place finish Tuesday at Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex's Ackerman Hills Course. 

The Bears finished with a three-round score of 938 (+74), posting rounds of 315 (+27), 316 (+28) and 307 (+19). Pikeville's final-round 307 was its best round of the tournament and moved the Bears nine strokes lower than their second-round score. 

Tayla Howroyd led the way individually, tying for sixth place with a three-round total of 225 (+9), highlighted by six birdies. The senior from Edenvale, South Africa, opened with a 77 before carding back-to-back rounds of 74 to close the tournament. 

Keira Howroyd finished tied for 23rd at 232 (+16) after rounds of 77, 75 and 80, while Tiffanie Tran placed tied for 30th with a 234 (+18) after rounds of 80, 79 and 75. Howroyd posted four birdies, while Tran carded three birdies and an eagle. 

Darcy Lawson finished 42nd at 247 (+31), closing with a 78 in the final round. Kaitlyn Stepp rounded out the Bears' lineup with a three-round total of 277 (+61) to tie for 49th. 

SCAD Savannah captured the team title at (+42), finishing two strokes ahead of the second-place tie between Dalton State and Marian (Ind.) at (+44). Indiana Wesleyan (+45) and Cumberland (+49) rounded out the top five. 

The Bears now return home to host the UPIKE Fall Invitational September 14-15 at StoneCrest Golf Course in Prestonsburg, Ky.
