The former St. Thomas Aquinas HS standout also played NCAA Div. I running back and defensive back at Wake Forest University where he was teammates with Holland and played from 2001 to 2005. During his time there he earned a bachelor’s degree in economics with a minor in sociology. In addition to his degree from Wake Forest, Anderson also recently completed his Masters in Athletic Coaching from West Virginia University in 2017 and is currently enrolled in the MBA program at UPIKE.

Dominic Anderson enters his third season as the defensive coordinator for the University of Pikeville football team in 2019.


At the end of his playing career, Anderson spent one season as a graduate assistant coach at Wake Forest University, followed by three seasons as defensive backs coach at Illinois State University. Anderson also spent one season as defensive backs coach at NAIA power St. Francis (Ill.) before taking over as head coach at South Plantation High School in Plantation, Fla., in 2016.

Anderson and his wife Stephanie have been married for 3 years and have settled in the Coal Run Village area after moving from Florida.  They welcomed their baby girl Charlie home in June 2020.
