John DeRossett is entering his first season as UPIKE's linebackers coach.Derossett joins the UPIKE staff after a very successful 31-year high school coaching career in eastern Kentucky. He has been an assistant at Belfry and Prestonsburg High Schools and was the head coach at Betsy Layne High School for four years.

His last stop was at his alma mater, Prestonsburg High where he led the Blackcats to several district, regional, and state semi-final appearances. In 2001, the Blackcats finished as state runner-up. He leaves PHS as the all-time winningest coach and during his tenure oversaw the building of a new stadium, field house and turf field. 

DeRossett coached several players who went on to play collegiately and professionally and several are coaching at the college and high school level. But, most of all he is proud of the men, dads, husbands, and community leaders he has coached over the year. 

He is married to his high school sweetheart Linda and they have two daughters Alexis and Allyson, and a grandson Joshua.
