Donald Thomas is entering his third season as an assistant coach with the UPIKE men’s basketball team in 2016-17.

Since joining the Bears’ staff, Thomas has helped UPIKE to a 53-12 record, a Mid-South Conference Regular-Season Championship and a trip to the quarterfinals of the NAIA National Tournament in Kansas City, Mo.

The Baltimore, Md., native Thomas also was on the coaching staff during the Bears’ 2011 NAIA National Championship run before making coaching stops at Pfeiffer University and North Carolina Central University.

Thomas, a graduate of then-Pikeville College, was a member of head coach Kelly Wells’ first UPIKE team in 2006-07.
