Coach Matthew Taylor joins the Bears staff after spending the past two seasons at Saint Catharine’s College. Prior to SCC, Taylor spent one season as assistant coach at Union College (KY) and two seasons as a assistant coach at Pikeville College. At Saint Catharine’s, Taylor helped guide the Patriots to their first 2011 NAIA National Tournament and most single-season wins in program history (22). As head recruiting coordinator at SCC Taylor signed multiple NCAA D1 transfers and top Juco players that included many All Conference Selections and All Americans. During his first and only season at Union as head recruiting coordinator Coach Taylor helped lead the Bulldogs to a 20+ win season and their first conference championship in 41 years. Taylor has been responsible for signing numerous NCAA-Division I and Junior College transfers. In coming to the University of PIkeville Coach Taylor had this to say, "Its a blessing to be able to come close to home to a school and basketball program that is second to none. I look forward to working again with Coach Wells and his staff they have always been close to me since I left, its great to be back again."
