Adam Jonson is in his first season as head coach of the University of Pikeville men’s soccer team, taking over at his alma mater where he was a four-year starter and two-year captain at then-Pikeville College.
As a defender for the Bears, Adam earned two All Mid-South Conference awards by the end of his senior season in 2010. Johnson also played at Pikeville High School where he graduated in 2007 as the team's record holder for goals in a season.
For the last three seasons, Johnson has served as an assistant coach with the UPIKE women's soccer team before taking over as the interim head men's coach halfway through the 2013 season.
In his interim role, Johnson finished with a 2-7-1 record, including a double-overtime win at Georgetown (Ky.) in the season finale. The win over the Tigers was just the second MSC win in program history.
