Oliver Hewitt-Fisher

Oliver Hewitt-Fisher, who led WVU Tech to three appearances in the NAIA national soccer tournament, has been hired in April 2024 by Corey Fipps, director of athletics at UPike.
 
Hewitt-Fisher posted an impressive 81-22-13 record in six seasons at the Beckley, W.Va., institution. In that time, he led the Golden Bears to the 2019, 2020 and 2023 national tournaments. He was also named Coach of the Year in the River States Conference in four of the last five seasons.
 
In 2023, the Golden Bears opened the season 1-4-1, and then didn't lose again until the national tournament. They finished with a record of 14-5-2 and won the River States regular season and tournament titles.
 
In his time at WVU Tech, Hewitt-Fisher has coached 39 first- or second-team all-conference players and 63 academic all-conference selections. He coached the 2019 River States Player of the Year, three different conference Defensive Players of the Year including the last two, and last year's league Newcomer of the Year.
 
Hewitt-Fisher was also a standout on the playing field at the University of Rio Grande, where he played in the Mid-South Conference. He was a first-team All-American in 2012 and an NAIA Scholar-Athlete.
 
In his playing career, he scored 35 goals and recorded 34 assists in 81 games. His Red Storm teams played in four national tournaments, reached the national quarterfinals twice and the 2009 national semifinals.
 
He represented his native Wales on the U-17 and U-19 teams and played six seasons of semi-professional soccer before moving to the coaching profession.
 
Hewitt-Fisher is moving to Pikeville with his wife, Stevie, and their children, Theo and Eden. He has earned a bachelor's degree in biology, a master's in Athletic Coaching and Leadership.
 
He is also the holder of a USSF D license.
