Box Score PIKEVILLE, Ky. – Freshman Jared Cobb nailed a 20-yard field goal as time expired on Saturday to give Kentucky Christian College a 31-28 win over the University of Pikeville.
For Cobb, who entered the game 1-of-4 on the season, it was his third made field goal in as many tries on the day.
Pikeville (4-6, 1-4 in the Mid-South Conference East Division) entered the fourth quarter with a 28-17 lead. But the Knights scored three times in the final 7:25 to pull out the win.
Cobb hit from 32 yards out to make it an eight-point game. Then, with 1:28 to play, freshman quarterback Graham Johnston found senior Beau Dailey on a 16-yard pass, and when the two connected on the two-point conversion, the guests had tied the game.
Johnston was phenomenal on the day. He ran for 236 yards and two scores and threw for 249 and another.
Pikeville looked to be in great shape after the score, as freshman K'Wayne Hunter returned the ensuing kick 54 yards to the KCU 29. But on 2
nd-and-10, freshman cornerback Greg Pollard intercepted a pass in the end zone to give the Knights the ball with 1:04 to play.
On the first play, Johnston's deep pass went through the hands of a UPIKE defender and was hauled in by Dailey, who was caught from behind at the two-yard line. After Johnston kept to center the ball, Cobb nailed the kick at the horn.
Johnston got the Knights on the scoreboard with 10:19 to play in the opening period with a one-yard plunge, ending an eight-play, 90-yard drive. Cobb's PAT made it 7-0.
Pikeville answered, however, going 61 yard on eight plays, ending with a one-yard score by junior quarterback

Grayson Quick's PAT evened the count with 6:08 left. The Bears gained the lead before the period ended, as Hoskins hit freshman
Shawntez Johnson for a 35-yard score to make it 14-7 with 1:48 left.
For Hoskins, it was his 50
th career touchdown pass.
Cobb provided the only scoring of the second frame, hitting on a 26-yard field goal to cut the Bears' lead to 14-10 at intermission.
Johnston led the Knights down the field to open the second half, needing only four plays to cover 65 yards and scoring on a 15-yard keeper to put his team in front 17-14.
But Pikeville responded. Hoskins again hit Johnson, this time from 29 yards out, to put the Bears in front 21-17. It was his 26
th touchdown pass of the season, breaking his own school record from last year. He stretched it to 27 when he hit freshman
Tanner Napier on a 33-yard score with 43 seconds remaining, making it 28-17 and setting the stage for the improbable Knight comeback.
Pikeville was again led on the ground by sophomore
Hunter Adams. The Middlesboro native ran for 83 yards on 24 carries. Playing tailback in the final two games of the season, Adams ran for 316 yards to lead the team in rushing.
Johnson caught three passes for 95 yards to lead the way.
Kentucky Christian (4-6, 2-3), led in both rushing and passing by Graham, was led in receiving by Dailey, who gained 102 yards on only three receptions.
Sophomore
Larry West led the Bears in tackles with nine, eight of them being solos. KCU was led by freshman linebacker Dylan Romero's seven tackles.
