McHenry, Young too much for Shawnee State

Box Score PORTSMOUTH, Ohio – After a struggle on Thursday night, seniors Chris McHenry and Andrew Young was too much for Shawnee State University, leading No. 20 Pikeville to an 88-75 win.
 
McHenry and Young, who were 2-for-22 from the field in a loss at Georgetown, overpowered Shawnee State on Saturday. They combined for 49 points, 11 rebounds, 10 assists and eight steals in the win.
 
McHenry was 7-of-9 from the arc to finish with 29 points. The Milwaukee senior added seven steals, six assists and four rebounds to lead the Bears to their 15th win in 23 games.
 
Young contributed 20 markers, adding seven rebounds, four assists and a pair of steals.
 
The teams were tied at 10 early on before the Bears exploded for a 25-11 run to take control. McHenry scored the first eight points in the run and had 15 of the 25, which ended on a layup by senior Cordaro Ellis to make it 35-21 with 4:00 to play in the half.
 
McHenry made all seven of his shots, including five threes, to finish the half with 20. His five steals contributed to 13 SSU turnovers and lead his team to a 43-27 advantage.
 
McHenry and Young were joined in double figures by senior Shane Burrell, who finished with 14 points and five rebounds.
 
Shawnee State (8-15, 3-9) was led by Mark Bryant's 22 points. He also led the team with six rebounds.
 
Tyler Boyles tossed in 19 for SSU, while Jeremy Bennington came off the bench for 15.
 
Pikeville will head to Campbellsville on Thursday night to meet the Tigers in an 8 p.m. opening tip. Shawnee State will step out of the league to visit Cincinnati-Clermont Tuesday night at 7 p.m.
