PIKEVILLE, Ky. – The University of Pikeville's doubleheader on Thursday has been cancelled.

The rain from Wednesday has forced the games to be cancelled. They will not be made up.

Friday's doubleheader is still on as scheduled.

The University of Pikeville softball team will have its home opener one day earlier.
 
Scheduled to play No. 24 Indiana Wesleyan on Friday and Saturday, the Bears will now play it on Thursday and Friday.
 
Thursday's doubleheader is slated to begin at 4 p.m., with Friday's games set for noon.
 
“This weekend's forecast is not conducive to playing an outdoor sport, so we contacted the staff at Indiana Wesleyan to see about a change,” said Coach Robert Staggs. “We feel certain we would not be able to get Saturday's games in, and we're pleased to be able to keep the four-game series with them on the schedule.”
 
Staggs and the Bears opened the season with a doubleheader at Virginia Intermont College on Saturday, dropping both games.
