PIKEVILLE, Ky. – The University of Pikeville softball team ran into a big inning in game one and a dominant pitching performance in the nightcap to lose 13-1 and 9-0 in five innings against No. 11 Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) on Friday at Paul Butcher Field.

After a scoreless first frame, the Blue Raiders tallied 10 runs in the top of the second inning to control the opener. In the 9-0 win, it was pitcher Jordan Hood doing the damage for Lindsey Wilson, throwing a five-inning no hitter with 12 strikeouts and just one walk.

Shortstop Taylor Weeks paced the Bears' offense, going 2-for-3 in game one with an RBI double, while right fielder Kayla Brown went 1-for-1 at the dish, drew a walk and scored a run. Designated player Courtney Morgan added a double in the 13-1 loss.

While there weren't any hits from UPIKE (1-9, 0-6 MSC) in game two, catcher Heather Hasty had some action on the base paths after drawing a walk and stealing second.

The Blue Raiders (16-2, 2-0 MSC) had some big performances at the dish, but none were better than outfielder Amanda Trampe belting three home runs, including two in the second game. Lindsey Wilson hit four out of the park in that game, including one each from third baseman Abbi Goedde, outfielder Andrea Whelan and pitcher Jordan Hood.

Lauren Barnes dropped to 0-3 with the loss in game one after giving up 10 runs on five hits with five walks, while Sydney Morris (0-4) took the loss in game two after allowing nine runs on six hits with a two strikeouts and walks.

Casey Bryan won the opener for Lindsey Wilson, allowing a single run on four hits to improve to 7-0, while Hood dominated game two to improve to 5-1 on the season.

Pikeville put runners in scoring position in the second, third and fifth innings of game one, but couldn't string together back-to-back hits. Hasty got to second in the finale, but a pop out and struck out followed to end the threat.

The Bears are back in action at 1 p.m. ET on Saturday hosting Cumberland (Tenn.).
