Volleyball Loses in Three against St. Catharine

PIKEVILLE, Ky. -- Connor Cook and Sydney Hall both came up with six kills, but it wasn't enough for the University of Pikeville volleyball team as it lost 3-0 to visiting St. Catharine on Tuesday night in UPIKE Gym.

The Bears managed to hit just .098 as a team, led by Cassidy Tackett who hit at a .400 clip with a 4-for-10 showing with no errors. But the Bears' top two attackers, Cook and Hall, hit .043 and an even .000, respectively.

Rachel Murphy paced the UPIKE defense with 14 digs and Mikayla Frye, Kaitlyn Welsh and Tackett added two blocks each.

Savanna Zakman ran the UPIKE offense, dishing out 16 assists, and Cook was the only Bear to hit a service ace. The Bears came into the match as one of the top serving teams in the NAIA.

With the loss, the Bears drop to 11-16 overall and 0-12 in Mid-South Conference play, while the Patriots improve to 20-8 overall and 7-5 in the MSC. The Bears have eight matches left in the regular season, including four against conference opponents.
