PIKEVILLE, Ky. -- After weeks of practice behind closed doors, the University of Pikeville men's and women's basketball teams are ready for their debut with a fun night of activities planned for the annual Basketball Blastoff at 7:30 p.m. ET on Wednesday at UPIKE Gym.
There will be free food, performances by the UPIKE spirit teams and band, along with numerous fan contests including a dance off and 3-point shootout.
The basketball teams are scheduled to be introduced starting at 9 p.m. with the women, followed by the UPIKE men at 9:30.
Regular-season play is right around the corner for both programs. Head coach Kelly Wells' men host Central Pennsylvania at 7 p.m. on Monday at the East Ky. Expo Center, while Joanna McNamee and her women's program kick things off on Nov. 3 against Midway also at the expo.
