Men’s Soccer Topped 5-0 at St. Catharine

ST. CATHARINE, Ky. -- St. Catharine scored three goals in the first 19 minutes on its way to a 5-0 win over the University of Pikeville men's soccer team on Saturday.

The Patriots (10-7, 3-4 MSC) added two more goals in the 58th and 60th minutes before both teams went scoreless for the final 30 minutes of action.

While Bradley Wilson tallied the first goal in the 10th minute off a cross from Matthew Lowndes, it was Lowndes who would go on to tally a hat trick with the next three scores. His first came in the 13th minute, followed by a goal six minutes later, then again in the early stages of the second half.

Wilson returned the favor to Lowndes by picking up the assists on the goal to make it a 4-0 lead for the Patriots.

With five players taking one shot each, UPIKE was outshot 17-5 overall, including a 9-3 mark in attempts on goal. Marvin Wesselburg, who scored the final goal of the game, led the Patriots with four shots, putting two on target and also picking up an assist.

Tait Torstensen played a complete game in goal for the Bears, grabbing four saves, while Jake Jackson and Brandon Campbell combined for the shutout for St. Catharine with one and two saves, respectively.

One regular-season contest remains for UPIKE, travelling to No. 18 Campbellsville at 7 p.m. ET on Monday in Campbellsville, Ky.
