BOWLING GREEN, Ky. -- The University of Pikeville women's bowling team is two-for-two on wins this season as it took first place out of 16 teams at the Southern Kentucky Classic on Saturday.
The Bears were nearly 100 pins in front of its nearest competitions as it tallied a total pin fall of 6,758 through five team games and 12 games of Baker-style play. Emmanuel finished second with a score of 6,660 and Campbellsville rounded out the top three with 6,450 pins.
UPIKE's domination continued in the junior-varsity portion of the event where its No.1 team finished first and it's No. 2 JV team took second place. The teams tallied scores of 6,723 and 6,072, respectively.
KT Simpson earned the overall individual title for the Bears with a score of 983 through five games bowled. Next in line for the orange and black was Megan Hedgespeth in seventh place with a score of 940 and Shelby Fromm was 62nd with a score of 694.
Bowling on the JV side, UPIKE's Tori Doyle was still good enough to finish third on the overall individual leaderboard with 954 pins. Her teammate Karlee Evans was in the top 10 as well in ninth place with a total of 932.
