Rio Grande 2, UPIKE 1
Rio Grande (13-13) scored two runs in the bottom of the second inning and that ended up being enough to hold on for the win.
Catcher Malduino Gonzalez did all the offensive work with one swing of that bat, hitting a home run with two outs that scored shortstop Kevin Arroyo who had doubled earlier in the inning.
UPIKE scored its only run of the game in the top of the fourth inning when centerfielder Josh Bailey singled and eventually came home on a wild throw while trying to be thrown out at third.
Landon Hutchison registered the win after two innings of work on the mound, allowing just one hit and striking out a batter. After leaving the game, five different RedStorm pitchers threw one inning each. Michael Vaquera was hit with the loss, scattering four hits for two runs with one strikeout.

After falling behind 1-0 in the first inning, UPIKE fought back on top with two runs in the top of the second inning as first baseman Nicolas Gonzales and left fielder Connor Osborne both hit RBI singles.
Even with another run scored in the third frame, the comeback was short lived as six RedStorm runs crossed the plate in the bottom of the inning. The teams traded single runs over the next three innings to allow Rio Grande to hold on for the four-run win.
Bailey, Chagnon, Gonzales and right fielder Eric Tucker all tallied two hits each, while Bailey and Chagnon got extra bases with doubles. The RedStorm only outhit the Bears 11-10, but produced better with runners in scoring position, tallying eight RBIs to UPIKE's five.
